French:We started the morning with French. Please see Mlle. Jessica’s blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com
Math:Today in math children reviewed tallies and conducted a survey about favourite type of food. After children completed the survey children had to interpret their results and present the information on a bar graph. We went over what a bar graph should include such as title, bars, choices and numbers. Once children finished they answered questions about their bar graph and conducting a survey.
Reading Buddies: We had a visit from our reading buddies today
Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote a journal about what they did on the snow day. We knew that our journal needed a title, introduction sentence, sentence starters and punctuation. After children finished they worked on presenting their book retell. I was able to listen to a few and give some feedback!
Agenda:
Book retell Presentation Feb 4thin class- memorize and use expression
Read 15 minutes
Spelling test tomorrow
Detailed sentences due tomorrow
Jump rope for heart fundraising
Cookie decorating activity due tomorrow

Math test Thursday February 7th
Unit of Inquiry: Today we went over the term inventions and learned about the invention of the wood burning stove by Benjamin Franklin. Children had to use their senses to determine what a wood burning stove would look like, sound like and smell like. We got some very creative answers! After I should them pictures of what it looks like and what it sounds like and they compared their answers. We then brainstormed what it would be like if we didn’t have the warmth from a burning stove.
Have a wonderful evening, Please continue to work on the book retell with your child. Reminder it needs to be 3-5 minutes.
Have a wonderful evening and stay warm
Love,
Miss Gandy
