Happy Magnificent Monday!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful weekend!
It was a very chilly day today, so recess was held indoors…

Daily 5:We started the day with daily 5 because Mlle. Jessica was covering a class. Today we shared to a partner what we did over the weekend. Then, when we shared to the class our partner had to tell everyone what we did! After we read a book called Be Kind and we reflected on how we can be kind to others around us.
Math: Today students were introduced to the term 'probability'. As a class we discovered that probability means the chance something will happen. We went over words such as likely and unlikely and used them in different situations. For example: Is it likely o unlikely for it to snow during the winter? Is it likely or unlikely that you will eat dinner with your family? Next, children chose and labeled a spinner, predicated the winner and recorded the results

Technology:We were very excited to start technology lessons in our classroom. Today we learnt all about the keyboard such as symbols, letters and numbers. After we practiced typing out sentences.

Gym: Please see Ms.Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language:Today students worked on their words of the week. Students used their spelling words to complete various tasks in the spelling workout book.
Agenda:
Book retell Presentation- start memorizing
Spelling test Friday
Spelling sentences due Friday- detailed sentences
Read 15 minutes
Market January 24 and 25- please bring in food by Wednesday
Jump rope for heart fundraising
Re-registration form returned by February 11th

Unit of Inquiry:Today we finished our posters and signs for our upcoming market. We went over the different roles that we are going to be in charge of in order for our market to run smoothly and organized. As a class we brainstormed how we can ensure that our market will be organized. We thought of having more labels, signs, someone greeting the door and someone showing the customers where to go etc.

Thank you to my teacher helper Nimrata; you are always such a great help!

Have a wonderful evening, Please continue to work on the book retell with your child. Reminder it needs to be 3-5 minutes.

Miss Gandy
