Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries
As part of our summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24th and Friday, January. 25th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.

Happy Chilly Wednesday!

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math: Today we continued to review addition and subtracting, adding and subtracting double-digit numbers and word problems. We went through different examples as a class on the board. After children worked on some word problem questions independently. To finish math we reviewed adding and subtracting double-digit numbers.

Music: Next we had a music lesson with Mrs. Mcmillian. Please see her blog at

Reading Buddies: Ms. Yustin was away today so gym class was canceled. So we had a visit from our reading buddies instead.

Inquiry into Language:Today students worked on writing a proper journal entry. We reviewed the important parts that need to be included in a journal such as
1. Date
2. Introduction sentence
3. First, Then, Next and Lastly
4. Periods and capitals
Our journal entry was about a trip that we took to the North Pole. We are still practicing stretching our sentences and making them more detailed. I was impressed with how much they remembered because the last time we wrote a journal was before the break!

Agenda:
Math test tomorrow
Math review due tomorrow
Spelling test Friday
Spelling sentences due Friday (we are working on making these sentences detailed)
Book retell sheet due Monday
Market January 24 and 25

Unit of Inquiry:Today students continued to work on our table posters for the market labeling the different parts we will be selling. A list will be sent home on Friday outlining what the children are responsible for to sell during the market.

Thank you to my teacher helper Kaysha, you are always such a great help!
Have a wonderful evening,
Miss Gandy
