Day 1

Welcome Back everyone!

We had a great first day in Grade 1

We started the day with French, you can check out her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:We talked about patterns, how we make different patterns (such as using letters, colours etc.). We also thought of examples we see around the house. To expand on our pattern processing we played math games where children had to create different patterns using their height and age. We used different shapes and different colours to make a range of patterns.

Daily 5: We had circle discussion where we introduced ourselves and talked about what we did this summer. We talked about being good friends and how we can help one another. After this we read the book ‘Let’s Go Says the Pencil” about friendship, telling the truth and being kind; everything we want to do in our classroom

After Daily 5 I gave children the opportunity to try writing their names in workbooks using cursive. At the end of the year we can go back and look at the progress we've made. I'm so proud of everyone for giving their best go!

Gym: Please see Ms. Yustin’s blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.com

UOI with Language Focus:We talked about a school pledge and why it is important to have one. Children understood it as having rules we should follow in the classroom. We read our school pledge together as a class, signed our names and stamped it with our fingerprint.

UOI:Students were introduced to our first UOI, we talked about the different responsibilities and rules different people in the world have. They came up with their own set of rules and responsibilities that they have to abide by in our classroom through an essential agreement. It was great to see so many people children giving great examples!

Agenda: Wear house colours on Friday

We ended our day with a house game, where two of our very own participated in quite an intensive game of musical chairs! Way to go Aarav and Omar!
