A note from Ms. Hayward:

Our SJA Parent Guild is hosting an SJA Year-End Play Day on Wednesday, June 12^th from 10:00-2:00. The cost for the play day is $20 ($15/sibling) and includes bouncy castles, obstacle course, face painting, Henna body art, photo booth, games, and clowns! For an extra $5, the following food choices will be available: 2 slices of cheese pizza, 2 hot dogs or 2 veggies samosas. Each option comes with chips and water. All order forms and money are due back by Thursday, May 23^rd. All proceeds raised will go towards our ongoing fundraising efforts

Math:Today children reviewed the term mass and its meaning. Children had to order the masses of items using their hands. Then they had to repeat the activity using a balance scale. We then ordered masses of classroom items from greatest to least mass and least to greatest.

Inquiry into Language:Today we went over our 15 spelling words and placed them inside our agenda alongside our spelling sentence books. The spelling test will happen next Friday and the sentences will be due the same day. An email has been sent home for clarification!

Summative presentations June 3^rd/5^th

Unit of Inquiry: For the majority of the day students worked on their summative projects. They created their habitats using materials in the classroom or what they brought from home. They were reminded to include the different things (food, shelter, animals) they would see in that specific habitat. Tomorrow and Friday we will be working on our presentations so that we are ready for next week!

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
