There will be no more spelling tests for the remainder of the year. We have finished working through our spelling workout book. Please continue to work on spelling with your child over the summer!
Our SJA Parent Guild is hosting an SJA Year-End Play Day on Wednesday, June 12th from 10:00-2:00. The cost for the play day is $20 ($15/sibling) and includes bouncy castles, obstacle course, face painting, Henna body art, photo booth, games, and clowns! For an extra $5, the following food choices will be available: 2 slices of cheese pizza, 2 hot dogs or 2 veggies samosas. Each option comes with chips and water. All order forms and money are due back by Thursday, May 23rd. All proceeds raised will go towards our ongoing fundraising efforts
Happy Moody Monday!
French: We started the day with Mlle. Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com
Math:Today students were introduced to mass and capacity. We brainstormed as a class the meaning of both concepts. Mass is the amount of matter inside an object (how heavy something weighs). Capacity is the amount a container can hold, it is normally measured in units such as ml, L and grams. Then children brainstormed times at home and at school when the capacity and mass of items are measured. Then they recorded the items that they measure.
Reading Buddies: Today we had a visit from our reading buddies!
Inquiry into Language:Today we read Chapter 7 of our novel study ‘Afternoon on the Amazon’. Then students answered questions about what they had read.

Unit of Inquiry:Today students went on a nature walk outside to collect resources for their habitats. We thought about different plants, animals and food that we would see in that specific habitat. We will start making them tomorrow! Please complete the research package that was sent home on the weekend, if students have not done so already!
Today we also had our first summative project presentation! Way to go Kaysha, we loved learning about the ocean and sharks.
Have a wonderful sunny evening,
Love,
Miss Gandy
