Re-registrations packages have been sent home. All completed forms are due back no later than February 11^th, 2019, in order to save your spots.

A note from Melissa: Just a friendly reminder that re-registration packages are due by Monday, February 11. After this time, spots will be opened up to the public and your child will not be guaranteed a space for next year. We look forward to seeing you back for next year!

March Break Camp at SJA

Jump Rope for Heart – It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14^th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA!

Cookie Love Day - 4 cookies to decorate for $5. This is an event put on by the parent guild. Proceeds from events like these help to bring technology and other items into our school! Please complete order form and send in by Feb. 01st in order to participate on Valentine's Day.

Math:Today in math children had to determine if certain situations/pictures were unlikely or likely to happen. First we reviewed common terms used in data management and probability. Next children had to collect data from the classroom and record this information using tallies. They explained why using tallies is easier when counting a large quantity.

Inquiry into Language:Today students wrote their weekly spelling test!

Unit of Inquiry: We spent the morning selling the rest of the food from our market. A huge thank-you to both parents, staff and children of SJA! Altogether we raised… $918.00 !!! I am so incredibly proud of everyone!!

This was such a wonderful week! It was so nice to see children so excited about our market! Put a huge smile on my face hearing the children say it was the best day ever. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

What is Action?

Many people think that action is easy to define. It is something you do right? But action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world? If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. Support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents! I’d love to hear about the action your child takes part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together.
