The class that sells the most Poinsettias will win a $50 gift card!! Order between November 1st and November 30th by cash only.
A note from our Librarian, Ms. Hayward: The book fair is only a month away! All proceeds raised goes towards building library with new books and resources. See flyer below for more information.
Join us for our science fair Friday
Happy World Kindness Day!
Math: Today in math children worked on learning Canadian coin names and their worth. First we played a game called ‘I have, who has?’
The students had to count the coins on their card and find the card that had their total on it. After we played the game we worked in our workout books.
Students had to draw the coins they would use to buy different items worth a specific amount. For example a teddy bear costs 83 cents. We used three quarters, one nickel and three pennies.
Science:Today children learnt what it means to perform a fair test experiment. We discussed as a class why it is important to make sure experiments are fair and how they become fair. In order for a test to be fair, we need to change one variable. The variable we changed in our experiment was the amount of raisins we were putting in the glass of sprite.
Today each child conducted the dancing raisin experiment twice. First they were given one cup with the same amount of raisins from the first try. We timed how fast it took for the raisins to start dancing. Then I gave the students a second cup with the same amount of sprite but fewer raisins. Lastly, they timed the second dancing raisins.
After we finished our experiment we graphed our results!
Inquiry into Language: Today children reviewed adjectives! We went through our five senses to help us think of adjectives.
Next we broke off into teams and how to come up with as many adjectives to describe a Christmas tree. Then we presented them to the class.
After we finished we thought of one small act of kindness and wrote them on handprints! These will be used for our school kindness tree!

Unit of Inquiry:Today being World Kindness day we did an important kindness activity that Miss. Gandy has done with a previous class, that she thinks is really important for the classroom environment! We wrote down all of our names and turned them upside down in a pile. Each student got to come up and pick a name turned over. Then we would go back to our desks without showing anyone and look at the card. Then we came up with 10 nice qualities and kind words that describe that person in our class!
After we finished we gave them to the person we were writing kind words about!
Today my teacher helper was Sianna! Thank you for always being a great help!
Have a wonderful evening and BE KIND!!
Miss Gandy J
