Join us for our Science Fair!

Happy Thursday!

French: We started the day with Mlle Jessica. Please see her blog at http://mllehousja.blogspot.com

Math:Today in math we introduced the topic of money! We looked at the different coins and how much they are worth. We discussed what we could buy with different amounts of coins. For example with $1.00 we could maybe buy a piece of candy or a small toy. Next we thought about how we can make different amounts using different coins. So if we had one dime= 10 cents, we can make that amount using two nickels= 5 cents plus 5 cents.
After we finished discussing coins children worked in a math booklet called Show Me The Money! Identifying different coins, the amount they are worth and colouring the coin.
Science Experiment: Today children were introduced to their science experiment topic, Dancing Raisins. I poured a glass of 7-up and a glass of plain water. I asked the children what they think would happen to the raisins if I put them in the cup of 7-up. We wrote down our hypothesis. Next we put the raisins in the 7-up and we obsereved what happened. We noticed the bubbles attach to the raisins and bring them up and down like they were dancing. After we discussed that 7-up has a gas in it called carbon dioxide gas and that’s what the bubbles are. Once the raisins sink to the bottom the bubbles attach and bring it up to the top. Then the bubbles pop and they sink back down! We called it the Dancing Raisins!!!!
